X Subscription pricing replaced the old mix of SuperGrok, X Premium and Cursor plans in October 2026. xAI now sells a single subscription that covers the Grok apps, the Grok tab on X, the Cursor coding editor and X Premium benefits, with five tiers from free to $200 a month. This guide explains what each tier includes, how the shared usage pool works, what happens if you already pay for SuperGrok, X Premium or Cursor, and what UK and European users should know before they subscribe.

Details below were checked on 13 October 2026 against xAI’s announcement and pricing page, Cursor’s pricing page and X’s help centre. Prices are listed in US dollars and exclude VAT. xAI has not yet published pound or euro prices for the new tiers, so confirm the final amount at checkout.

What Is the X Subscription?
xAI announced the X Subscription on 2 October 2026 as one plan across X, Grok and Cursor, after SpaceX completed its acquisition of Cursor’s parent company in August 2026. X’s help centre now says that X Premium is part of the X Subscription. xAI says the plan is sold only directly through X Subscription Corp, so avoid resellers offering cheap “SuperGrok” or “Cursor” accounts.
The headline claim is value. xAI describes the $30 Premium tier as including “the benefits of SuperGrok, Cursor Pro, and X Premium+, previously $90/month combined”. It also says every tier includes at least twice the coding usage with Grok models of the comparable Cursor plan.
What Each Tier Includes
Free ($0)
The free tier gives limited Grok chat and agent requests, daily access to Grok Chat, Imagine, Voice and Build, a starter allowance for Cursor’s coding agent, and the ability to post, reply and follow on X. It is enough to try Grok and Cursor, but heavy users will hit the limits quickly.
Plus ($8 a month)
Plus is the entry paid tier. It includes a shared usage pool for Grok Chat, Voice, Imagine and Build, access to the Grok API and Cursor. On X, it adds the Premium checkmark, fewer ads in the timeline, creator tools and Advanced Analytics. The important restriction is in Cursor: on Plus, only Grok models are available.
Premium ($30 a month)
Premium has four times the Plus usage and is the tier most regular users will compare with ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro. It adds the latest Grok models, Grok Bot, faster chat, image and video creation, code hosting with AI code reviews, and cloud agents and automations. In Cursor, Premium unlocks third-party models such as Claude, GPT and Gemini, but these are billed separately at API list prices. On X, it adds ad-free scrolling on most surfaces, a higher reply boost and the option of a preferred handle.
Super ($100 a month)
Super raises usage to 15 times Plus and adds priority model access at peak times. It suits developers who use Cursor’s agents for several hours a day.
Ultra ($200 a month)
Ultra has 50 times the Plus usage and the earliest access to new products and models. It matches the price of other top-tier AI plans, such as Perplexity Max, and is aimed at power users and professionals.
How the Shared Usage Pool Works
All your activity draws on one pool: Grok in its own apps, the Grok tab on X, the Grok API and Cursor. xAI says the pool refreshes weekly, and usage costs vary by product, so generating video uses more than a text chat. When the pool runs out, you can buy a top-up or wait for the weekly refresh.
Third-party models in Cursor sit outside the pool. On Premium and above, you can use them, but they are charged at API list prices, and you can set spending caps. Cursor’s documentation lists examples such as Claude Opus 5.5 at $4 per million input tokens and $20 per million output tokens. If you mainly want Claude or GPT in Cursor, budget for these extra costs.
xAI has not published how many messages, images or coding requests each tier includes, only the multipliers relative to Plus.
X Subscription vs SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium
| Before | Now |
|---|---|
| SuperGrok (Grok’s paid plan) | Covered by Premium and higher tiers |
| Cursor Pro ($20 a month) | Cursor access is included in every tier; third-party models from Premium |
| X Premium and Premium+ | X benefits included from Plus; Premium+-style perks from Premium |
| Separate bills and usage limits | One bill and one weekly usage pool |
Note that Cursor’s documentation page still lists the older Pro, Pro Plus and Ultra plans at $20, $60 and $200, with monthly usage resets. Treat that page as describing legacy plans; the new X Subscription tiers are on cursor.com/pricing and x.ai/pricing.
What Happens to Existing Subscribers?
According to xAI, people who already pay for SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium can keep their current plan or switch:
- Switching: you get a prorated refund on the old plan, plus any limited-time offers shown in your billing settings, and the change takes effect immediately.
- Staying: X’s help centre says existing X Premium subscribers keep their plan, price and features until they choose to switch.
- Annual plans: you keep your current term, and changes apply at renewal.
- Future migration: xAI says old plans will eventually be migrated, with advance notice, but has not set a date.
- Several subscriptions: you can link your X, Grok and Cursor accounts in billing settings.
If you currently pay separately for SuperGrok and Cursor Pro, the $30 Premium tier is likely to be cheaper. If you only use X Premium for the checkmark, the $8 Plus tier is the closest match.
UK and European Prices
xAI says the X Subscription is rolling out globally on the web, iOS and Android, and lists no UK or EU restrictions. However:
- No GBP or EUR prices have been published for the new tiers. The listed US dollar prices exclude taxes such as VAT.
- Legacy X Premium prices in X’s help centre are still shown in pounds: Basic £3 a month, Premium £8 and Premium+ £31 (plus VAT on the web). These apply to the old plans, not the new tiers.
- App store prices may differ from web prices, because Apple and Google set local pricing.
Check the final amount, including VAT, on the checkout screen before you subscribe.
How to Subscribe, Cancel and Get a Refund
- Subscribe at x.ai/pricing on the web, or in the Grok, X or Cursor apps on iOS and Android. You need to confirm a phone number.
- Manage or cancel in the settings of the platform you bought through. App store subscriptions are managed through Apple or Google.
- Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal. You keep the benefits until the end of the billing period.
X’s help centre says subscriptions are non-refundable unless required by law, apart from prorated credits or refunds when upgrading. UK and EU consumers may have statutory cancellation rights for online purchases; check the terms shown at checkout.
Is the X Subscription Worth It?
- Yes, if you use Grok and Cursor together. The Premium tier bundles both for $30, which xAI positions as cheaper than buying them separately.
- Yes, at Plus, if you want the X checkmark plus light Grok and Cursor use for $8.
- Maybe not, if you rely on Claude or GPT in Cursor. Those models are billed extra at API prices, so a dedicated tool may cost less. Our Cursor vs Claude Code comparison covers that choice.
- Maybe not, if you only want a chatbot. Compare with ChatGPT pricing, Gemini pricing and Perplexity pricing, and with Microsoft Copilot plans if you already use Office.

Grok API Pricing
Developers can also pay for Grok through xAI’s API rather than a subscription. xAI’s model documentation lists Grok 4.7 at $2 per million input tokens and $6 per million output tokens, with a 500,000-token context window. Grok Imagine Image 2.0 starts at $0.02 per image and Grok Imagine Video 1.5 at $0.02 per second. Plus and higher subscription tiers also include some API access from the shared usage pool.

Conclusion
The X Subscription simplifies xAI’s products into one bill and one weekly usage pool. Plus at $8 covers light Grok, Cursor and X use; Premium at $30 is the sweet spot for people who want SuperGrok-level access and Cursor together; and Super and Ultra serve heavy coders. Before upgrading, remember that third-party models in Cursor cost extra and that UK buyers should confirm the VAT-inclusive price at checkout.
